Beach Wedding Theme Inspiration: Seahorses

Posted by in Create the Look

If you are looking for a more unusual theme for a beach wedding, consider seahorses. There’s something really sweet and charming about seahorses compared to the more popular beach theme icons starfish and sand dollars. They are also especially cute for theme bridal and baby showers.

It is commonly said that seahorses mate for life. And while that isn’t actually always true, the kissing seahorse is still a lovely image. {photo credit above by Beach House Living}

Here is some wedding inspiration for a seahorse theme:

Seahorse Cake Toppers

Cake design can match your personality and the mood of your wedding, so seahorse toppers can go DIY or elegant and still work. The knit seahorse toppers were hand made by the bride.

Seahorse Accessories

It’s not necessary for everyone in the wedding party to wear your theme, but little touches here and there, from cuff links to jewelry, can bring a seahorse theme to life.

It’s a nice touch to give your guests a reminder of your theme to take home with them. That can be done simply with a seahorse themed favor tag or more elaborately with a seahorse container or cookie favor.

Tips for Formal Wedding Invitation Wording

Posted by in Ask Imbue You, Wording and Etiquette

Imbue You purple red gold indian wedding invitation wrap

One of most important indicators of what type of wedding you are having is your invitation wording. So when your wedding is a more formal affair, your invitation wording can help you communicate that.

The key is to spell out the date and time. Visually, you should consider more formal fonts, such as elegant scripts and serif fonts or all-cap block fonts.

Additional tips, courtesy of Emily Post:

  • Technically “honour of your presence” is used for weddings inside places of worship, while “pleasure of your company” is used for other venues.
  • For weddings not on the hour “half after” is preferred over “half past” or “four-thirty”
  • “In the afternoon”, or “in the evening” is not technically needed. But almost everyone does it, and I think it adds to the formality.
  • When spelling out the year, “and” is not needed, and the year is not capitalized.

Purple and Gold Island Wedding with a Twist

Posted by in Ask Imbue You, Color Advice, Create the Look

Question:

My wedding is in December in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. The wedding colors are purple and gold and my theme is traditional with a twist. My question is how do I incorporate the island destination with these colors and my theme.

-Adana

Answer:

I would say that people actually see shapes before they see color. So I would suggest that if you want an island feel, you can do that with your colors as long as you use shapes in your designs that relate to an island feeling, such as palm leaves, tropical flowers, etc.

Also it might be nice to incorporate more “twist” elements into your wedding design, so that guests understand that it’s not a typical traditional wedding. Here are some ideas to spark your creativity.

This is our new tropical wrap wedding invitation. We usually feature this design with a plumeria flower design, but have replaced it here with one of our monogram designs for a more traditional look. See the original tropical invitation here.

Another way to show the uniqueness of your wedding is to use unusual materials. Here an island flower is handmade as a bridal hair piece from beads. This design is by BeadFlora.

Another idea is to have your bridesmaid dresses be the same color and basic shape for a traditional look, but slightly different styles for a twist. These bridesmaid dresses are from The Jersey Maid.

Everyone has a great seat with a spiral seating arrangement. It’s definitely something different, but not too different for a traditional wedding. This photo is by Gideon Photography via b.loved.

monogram tropical thank you by imbue you

We’ve begun doing these thank you cards for couples having destination weddings. I love the idea of these. Weddings after all are about sharing a special day with the people who mean the most to you. A card like this shows your appreciation for your family and friends, especially if they’ve traveled to share your wedding day. You can display it on plates during dinner, or in welcome bags for out of town guests.
